Welcome to Unique Air: What We Do and Our Standard
Meet Unique Air, your local HVAC team. Learn what we install, service, and repair, and the standard we hold ourselves to on every job.

Unique Air is a local heating and cooling company that installs, services, and repairs residential and light-commercial HVAC systems. We handle air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, ductwork, and indoor air quality across our service area. Every job carries a written scope, a fixed quote, and a workmanship warranty backed by our own crew.
What services does Unique Air actually provide?
We focus on four things and we do them well: system installation, seasonal maintenance, emergency repair, and indoor air quality. That includes ducted central systems, ductless mini-splits, heat pump conversions, and light commercial rooftop units. If your building needs it and it moves air or changes temperature, we probably work on it.
Founded in 2014, Unique Air runs out of our shop on Main Street with a crew of eight licensed technicians. A standard diagnostic visit runs $89, credited back if you approve the repair. New system quotes are free and delivered in writing within 48 hours.
Last March, a homeowner named Priya called us at 6:47 a.m. on a Sunday because her 12-year-old furnace had quit overnight and the house was 51°F. We had a tech at her door by 8:15. Cracked heat exchanger. Not worth repairing. She had heat again by Wednesday under a new 96% AFUE unit, financed at 0% for 24 months. That's the pace we aim for, not the pace we always hit, but the one we plan around.
How do we hold ourselves to a real standard?
Most contractors will tell you they care about quality. Ask them how they measure it. We track callback rate, install-day punctuality, and Manual J load calculation accuracy on every project. If a system we installed fails inside the workmanship warranty, we eat the cost. No arguing about it.
Here's what our standard looks like in practice:
- We perform a Manual J load calculation on every new install, because oversized systems short-cycle and waste money.
- We photograph the work before we close up any wall, attic, or crawlspace, and we send those photos to you.
- We show up in the two-hour window we booked, or we call before the window ends.
- We quote in writing, and the price on the invoice matches the price on the quote.
- We pull permits when permits are required, even on jobs where nobody would check.
- We wear shoe covers indoors. Small thing. Matters to the people who live there.
The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that a properly sized and installed HVAC system can cut energy use by up to 30% compared to a poorly installed one [1]. That's not a marketing number. That's why we spend an extra hour on load calcs.
When should you actually call an HVAC company?
Not every noise means a breakdown, and not every old system needs replacing. Here's how we think about it, so you can decide before you pick up the phone.
| Situation | What to do | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| System is 15+ years old, still working | Schedule a tune-up, plan for replacement in 2-3 years | $129 tune-up |
| Warm air from AC, or cold air from furnace | Call for diagnostic within 24 hours | $89 diagnostic |
| No heat or no cool, extreme weather | Call for emergency service same day | $149 after-hours |
| Higher bills, uneven temperatures | Book a duct and airflow inspection | $199 inspection |
Not sure which bucket you're in? Call us and describe what's happening. We'll tell you honestly if it can wait. Some of our best long-term customers are people we told, on the first call, that they didn't need us yet. Why does indoor air quality matter as much as temperature?
Because you breathe it. The EPA reports that indoor air can be two to five times more polluted than outdoor air, and Americans spend roughly 90% of their time indoors [2]. Filtration, humidity control, and ventilation aren't upsells. They're part of what an HVAC system is supposed to do. We test, we measure, and we recommend only what the readings justify.
FAQ
What areas does Unique Air serve?
We cover our home city and the surrounding suburbs within about 25 miles of our Main Street shop. If you're not sure whether your address falls inside that radius, call us and we'll check. For jobs just outside the line, we'll sometimes make an exception, especially for existing customers or larger installations.
Do you offer financing on new systems?
Yes. We offer 0% financing for 24 months on approved credit, and longer terms at competitive rates for larger projects. Financing paperwork is handled during your in-home estimate, so you'll know your monthly payment before you sign anything. No surprise fees, no prepayment penalties.
How fast can you get to an emergency call?
During business hours, most emergency calls in our service area get a technician on-site within four hours. After hours and weekends, we aim for same-day response, though extreme weather events can stretch that window. Call our main line and the on-call tech will phone you back with an ETA.
Are your technicians licensed and insured?
Every technician on our crew is licensed by the state and carries EPA Section 608 certification for refrigerant handling. Unique Air holds general liability and workers' comp insurance, and we can provide certificates on request before we start any job.
